StreamBank, the specialist lender focused on bridging, commercial and buy-to-let finance, has appointed Barry Carter as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective from 14 December 2026.

He will succeed Mike Kirsopp, who is retiring after leading StreamBank through a period of significant growth and helping establish it as a leading specialist property finance lender.

Barry joins StreamBank from Hinckley & Rugby Building Society, where he currently serves as Chief Executive. He brings more than 25 years’ experience across banking and financial services, with senior leadership roles covering operations, business transformation and strategic growth.

He was appointed Chief Executive of Hinckley & Rugby Building Society after previously serving as its Chief Operating Officer and has since overseen the mutual’s modernisation and development.

The appointment comes as StreamBank looks to broaden its lending range while maintaining its focus on speed, certainty of funding and direct access to its team for brokers and borrowers.

Commenting on his appointment, Barry Carter said:

“I’m thrilled to be joining StreamBank at such an exciting point in its journey. In a remarkably short period of time, the business has established itself as a major force in the bridging market, demonstrating what can be achieved with a clear vision, exceptional people and an unwavering commitment to delivering for brokers and customers.”

“The foundations that have been built are incredibly strong, and I see enormous potential for StreamBank to continue its impressive growth. There are significant opportunities to deepen our presence in existing markets while exploring complementary specialist lending sectors where we can add real value. I look forward to working alongside the talented team to build on the success achieved to date and write the next chapter of the StreamBank story.”

Nick Treble, Chairman at StreamBank, added:

“Barry’s appointment represents an important milestone for StreamBank. His experience of leading financial services businesses through periods of growth and transformation, combined with his strategic vision and customer-focused approach, make him the ideal person to lead the business into its next phase.

“We have ambitious plans for the future, and Barry’s leadership will be instrumental in helping us realise them.”

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mike Kirsopp for his outstanding leadership, energy and commitment over the past few years. Mike has played a pivotal role in establishing StreamBank as one of the UK’s leading specialist property finance lenders, building a business with an exceptional reputation and a strong platform for future growth. I would like to wish Mike a long, happy and well-deserved retirement and thank him for the lasting contribution he has made to the business.”
