PMS Mortgage Club has launched Path90, a business growth and planning programme for new and established mortgage and protection firms, delivered in partnership with Maple Corner Consulting.

It combines strategic planning, live performance data and quarterly consultancy check-ins to help PMS members improve profitability and build long-term value.

In many owner-run advice firms, a significant share of revenue and client relationships sits with the principal. This can limit growth and make succession planning harder. Path90 focuses on the factors that strengthen a firm over time, including profitability, processes, adviser productivity and the ability to operate effectively as the team develops.

Developed by Maple Corner Consulting founder Matt Stirland, Path90 is available to PMS firms at different stages of growth, including those planning for succession or a future sale. PMS is the exclusive mortgage club and network partner for Path90.

The launch comes as rising compliance and technology costs, together with succession challenges, are prompting more mortgage and protection firms to examine how resilient and transferable their businesses are. In wealth management, firms with stronger management, processes and financial performance have typically been better placed to attract investment and secure favourable terms.

For owners, strong annual income and long-term value do not have to be competing goals. Both depend on deliberate decisions about recruitment, technology, pricing and succession, underpinned by a clear view of the firm’s performance and future potential.

Path90 begins with a six-hour strategy session to establish the owner’s goals and assess the firm’s people, costs and revenue. Firms receive a five-year plan, growth scenarios and priorities for the first 90 days, then use the portal to track revenue, EBITDA, margins and adviser productivity, and model growth and recruitment decisions. Quarterly consultancy sessions review progress and set the next priorities.

Kieran Roberts, Head of Propositions at Sesame Bankhall Group, said:

“PMS members are highly skilled at advising clients, but running a busy firm can leave little time to step back and assess its performance, value and future direction.

“By combining each firm’s own figures with regular challenge and support, Path90 helps owners make more informed decisions and turn their ambitions into a practical plan. It is about giving them greater control over what they have built and more choice over what comes next.”

Matt Stirland, Founder of Maple Corner Consulting, said:

“Most principals do not lack ambition; the challenge is finding the time and structure to work on the business while continuing to serve clients. Breaking a long-term plan into focused 90-day priorities makes progress easier to manage and measure.”

“That discipline is valuable whether an owner wants to grow, step back gradually or sell in the future. Strong financial information, clear processes and a capable team take time to develop, so firms that start early give themselves more options.”

Path90 is available to PMS member firms on a monthly subscription.
