“He has built a solid finance team and infrastructure required for our period of growth, together with supporting on key deliverables required for a new and growing bank. This promotion is recognition of all the incredible hard work and dedication shown since joining and the important role he will play in the future of the bank.”
Afin Bank launched in July last year, just nine months after receiving its banking licence Authorisation with Restrictions (AwR) in October 2024. It supports under-served borrowers such as foreign nationals, the self-employed, people with non-standard incomes and high-net-worth borrowers, who struggle to get mortgages from mainstream lenders because of their circumstances.
It offers a range of residential and buy-to-let mortgages, as well as regulated bridging loans, for properties in England and Wales. It also provides a range of FSCS protected savings accounts, with new mortgage and savings product in the pipeline.
Afin is backed by African reinsurer WAICA Re. which has committed an initial £62m to setting up the bank.
