Nomo, the digital bank providing Sharia’a-compliant UK property finance to international clients, has today launched the Nomo Academy. Nomo has created the Academy to provide vital learning materials, product updates and thought leadership to hundreds of brokers who support Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) residents with residential property purchases in England, Wales and Scotland.
This growing part of the market is estimated by Nomo to be worth around £1 billion every year, although for significant numbers of the mortgage broker community the opportunity has not yet been explored. Nomo has therefore set up the Academy to provide information, learning and guidance to brokers and ensure the application and completion process runs smoothly for their clients.
The Academy provides a learning hub which gives brokers the tools and confidence needed to identify and complete cases. It also includes events and webinars covering key topics such as Understanding Sharia’a finance and the UK property purchasing journey. Participating brokers will be able to secure Continuous Professional Development (CPD) points.
The Academy is run by Nomo’s Property Finance Team, drawing on a range of experience of supporting brokers on cases involving GCC clients. The team will also work with experienced brokers to bring new features, content and new modules to the Academy, ensuring that the Academy is tailored to what brokers really need.
Layla Hamidian, Head of Property Finance Sales and Servicing at Nomo, commented:
“Since we launched our property finance proposition in 2023, we’ve worked hard to understand what brokers need to support their GCC clients with UK property purchases. We understand the hurdles and barriers they often come up against and have created the Nomo Academy to help make the process smoother and more accessible.
“Brokers will get the practical support and clear insights they need to feel confident working on these cases. This includes understanding how Sharia’a-compliant property finance works and how to prepare stronger applications. They will also benefit from regular, direct access to a broad range of Nomo team members.”
The first webinar, focused on underwriting, took place on 25th March 2026 and was led by Nomo’s Kishan Jesani, Head of Mortgage Underwriting and Layla Hamidian, Head of Property Finance Sales and Servicing. The webinar provided a practical overview of Nomo’s underwriting approach, including how financing decisions are assessed and what brokers can do to strengthen and streamline applications, particularly for clients in the GCC. Nomo will continue to build the Academy programme in the coming months. This will include new content and more broker-led sessions and providing intermediaries with the opportunity to engage with Nomo’s business development team and the wider broker community.
The next webinar, looking at portfolio landlords, will be held on 20th May – RSVP here
