The Association of Mortgage Intermediaries (AMI) is calling on advisers across the mortgage and protection sectors to share their views as part of the seventh annual AMI Protection Viewpoint research.

This will help build a clearer picture of:

  • how advisers are supporting customers with their protection needs and the approaches being taken across the market;
  • the challenges advisers face when discussing protection and how these are being navigated;
  • how customer needs and expectations are changing; and
  • where opportunities exist to share learning and provide further support across the sector.

The survey is open to all advisers, including those that are not AMI members. AMI is encouraging firms, networks and advisers to share it as widely as possible to ensure the findings reflect the breadth of the intermediary market.

The survey is designed to be concise, with questions tailored to the answers given and is open until 28 August.

The findings will be unveiled at AMI's virtual launch event on 5 November at 9am, in partnership with Legal & General, The Exeter and Vitality.

Stacy Penn, Head of Policy at AMI said:

“AMI Protection Viewpoint has become an important barometer of the mortgage and protection market. It highlights how consumer attitudes are changing and how advisers need to adapt to support evolving client needs.

“By taking part, advisers can help ensure this year’s findings reflect the realities of the market. Whether you are a mortgage adviser, protection adviser, or advise across both areas, we’d encourage you to complete the survey and share your experiences. This insight will help build a clearer picture of the challenges and opportunities facing the industry and help shape our future Viewpoint actions.”

Andrew Montlake, Managing Director at Coreco (and Chair of AMI), said:

“As an adviser, the conversations we have with customers every day give us valuable insight into their needs, concerns and attitudes towards protection. The AMI Protection Viewpoint research has helped me reflect on how I approach protection conversations with my clients, while providing insight into changing customer needs and the experiences of advisers across our market.

“I’d encourage advisers to take part and share their views, helping ensure their experiences are captured and that the research continues to provide meaningful insight for advisers and the wider industry.”
